We’ve been living with the Covid-19 pandemic for a little more than a year now and I’ve learned a lot of new things as well as reaffirmed some things I already knew.

Twitter is the most perfect propaganda platform we have now. Its limited number of characters accommodates liars and bullshiters. In order to refute anything on Twitter, you require something more lengthy, which is near impossible. According to Brandolini’s law, β€œthe amount of energy needed to refute bullshit is an order of magnitude larger than to produce it.” Twitter is the best example of this today, though Facebook isn’t far behind.

People rely too much on social media to do their thinking for them. Critical thinking skills seem to be dissipating.

Some people are just evil. There are more of them than I previously thought.

There are more willfully ignorant people wandering about than I would have imagined.

Not a single job cares about you. In the before times, I thought differently, but companies and organizations across the country have shown, they only care about dollar bills not human lives.

Millions of Americans, including the ones I see in public, aren’t willing to do the bare minimum for the common good.

I was already working on eliminating toxic friendships from my life in the before times. It is absolutely okay to cut out toxic people from your life, regardless of whether it is in person or online. I have found a small handful of good people, which allows me to have a little hope for humanity.

I learned how condoms fail by looking at how people wear face masks.

Even when presented with facts, people would rather believe a conspiracy that makes them feel good.

Far too many people have been allowed to manufacture an excuse as to why they are special and do not have to wear a mask.

Corporations, states, and politicians – big and small – willingly let people die for the almighty dollar. You and I are expendable. Regular people think the same way if it means they can go party.

No one put essential workers at the front of the vaccination line because we are a selfish people who only do lip service and do not actually care if these people are dead.

Nuance is dead. Black and white thinking is taking over. Pick my side or die.

Parents acted like spoiled rotten babies, protesting having to look after their children instead of sending them to school.

A lot of people have never lost control of their lives and they can’t handle it. I can only imagine how they would react if self-quarantine became forced quarantine.

Evangelical Christians have collectively lost their minds. To them, everyone is out to get them, lending themselves susceptible to conspiracy theories and a hatred and fear of anything different from their group think.

Covid-19 is never going away. It is going to be with us forever because we can’t collectively get together to defeat it. I am going to need a regular boosters to the vaccine, probably until I die.

I will still wear a mask even though I am fully vaccinated.

Some days, I wish the virus was worse. We are a selfish, petulant race and we do not deserve this beautiful planet which we are willfully destroying for momentary pleasures.

You should be like me and always be well-stocked on toilet paper before a disaster or pandemic hits. I haven’t purchased toilet paper in over a year. I still have 94 rolls of toilet paper in the house. No. You can’t have any.
