Riding the high

Riding the high

The transfer of heat from one to another
is a cold, acidic, rigid form of greeting

The firm but gentle comfort of an embrace
brings acceptance, appreciation, belonging

It turns the world upside down
relaxes you
carries joy
dissolves the world around you
into a crepuscular ray of humanity

They say a good hug
lasts at least 20 seconds
but
a good hug lasts
as long as it needs to
and leaves you
riding high
for the rest of the day
