I sit on my balcony
in the pouring rain
water drenches me
in the stillness of the night
I watch the cars on 56th Street
pass me by
On this starless night
the sky is filled with blackness
like the pitch of a dark, dungeon cell
The chains on my mind
too heavy
prevent speech or thought
only more chains
to hold me down
